6 Easy Steps To Remove Viruses

Finding the web browser

This is a very common issue with virus infections. Desktop links as well as links in the start menu disappear, making you unable to find the browser in order to access the internet. Fortunately though, Internet Explorer is still on your computer.

Step 1

Open Internet Explorer

Windows 7: Click Start. Type ‘iexplore’ into the search field and click enter.

Windows Vista: Click Start. Type ‘iexplore’ into the search field and click enter.

Windows XP: Click Start. Click ‘Run’. Type ‘iexplore’ into the open field and click OK.

Browse to our website

With internet explorer open, type www.spywarehelpcenter.com into the navigation bar and click enter.

Step 3

Visit the Removal Page

On the top right, the last link on the right of the navigation menu will say Virus Removal. Click Virus Removal.

Step 4

Download the virus removal program

Accessing the internet

Even if you can find your internet browser and open it, sometimes the internet is simply offline. However, 95% of the time the internet is still available but the virus will prevent you from accessing it.

Step 1

Restart your computer

Go ahead and reboot your computer from Windows or turn it on if you have it turned off.

Step 2

During the reboot press the F8 key repeatedly

Right as the computer begins the reboot you must press F8 repeatedly. This will allow you to access the Advanced Options Menu.

Step 3

Select Safe Mode with Networking

Once you are in the Advanced Options Menu, use your arrow keys and select the Safe Mode with Networking option. Press enter when you have selected it.

Step 4

Windows will boot into safe mode

Windows will now boot into Safe Mode with Networking. It is a low resource version of Windows that sometimes allows you to perform simple tasks that the virus would not allow when Windows is in normal mode.

Step 5

Try accessing the internet

Now that you have rebooted your computer into Safe Mode with Networking, try accessing the internet. If you need to find your browser, see the first procedure above, “Finding the internet browser”.

To begin you need to download the virus removal installation file.

Do not press run

Do not press Run. You are going to save the file to your desktop.

Save to your desktop and open

Opening the .exe file

Step 1

Download the .exe installation file.

You must first have the .exe installation file saved onto your computer. If you haven’t downloaded and saved the file on your computer already, download the virus removal installation file now.

Step 2

Open the .exe file

Double-click on the .exe installation file and try to get it to open. If it will not open, rename the same file to iexplore.exe.

Step 3

Retry if it doesn’t open

If the iexplore.exe installation file will not open the first time, keep double-clicking the file until it opens.

Step 4

Reboot into safe mode if necessary

If you have tried opening it many times, boot into safe mode and then try opening the iexplore.exe installation file. Refer to the Start Windows in Safe Mode section.

Step 5
